The Fail Whale Story
Twitter “3D Fail Whale” Widget

The Fail Whale is the illustration you see above. this illustration called “Lifting A Dreamer” is part of the work of Yiying Lu, a shanghai born now gone Aussie graphic designer that originally put the illustration in iStockPhoto as a way to showcase her work and make some money and as with any good story never expected what happened next..

Next arrived in the form of Twitter that bought the rights to use the stock photo graphic at 10 dlls as the graphic to be used by twitter whenever the site would need maintenance. the graphic was chosen because of the striking match in color pattern to twitter design and of course for the birdies. it is one of those things full of serendipity like Wizard of OZ and Pink Floyd “Dark Side of The Moon” things no one can explain but get to happen.

Then came the name of Fail Whale coined in a Tweet (pure poetry right?) by Nick Quaranto in a rare “Eureka” moment.

Credit cards are great for paying off necessities like electricity and helpful in emergencies, but without a little self-discipline in the way you use them, those cards chew up your real money.

l One or two cards are enough. You have more, you’re dealing with more debt.

l Pay off your credit-card debts on time. Banks charge more interest if you’re late. And if you always pay on time, it’ll be easier to get a bank loan when you need one.

l Check the payment slips you get at the end of every month to make sure everything’s correct.

l Don’t go crazy collecting points in a bid to get gifts. In my girlfriend book warns that this is just a marketing ploy to get you to use your credit card more.

l Use your credit card to extend your payment period only at the right time. You shouldn’t get into this when the card is nearing its expiry date.

Magento Covered by CNET (CNET)

“Put in English, Magento is an open-source solution for setting up and managing an online store. The product appears to be pretty robust already, but the roadmap looks even better.
If you need to set up an online store, why pay the six- to seven-figures to do so when you can use Magento for free and then pay when you want support going into production?”

BILL GATES\'S QUOTE

I’m a great believer that any tool that enhances communication has profound effects in terms of how people can learn from each other, and how they can achieve the kind of freedoms that they’re interested in.

Bill Gates

I’m sorry that we have to have a Washington presence. We thrived during our first 16 years without any of this. I never made a political visit to Washington and we had no people here. It wasn’t on our radar screen. We were just making great software.

Posters against George W. Bush by schani on flickr.com

What if Bush hadn’t have seized the White House in 2000? Many parrot partisan talking points: “Just think what would have happened after 9/11 if Gore would have been president.” Same old, same old. Tired, whiney macho deceitful rhetoric from wimpy hypocrites.

Well, just think what wouldn’t have happened if the duly elected President of the United States would have rightfully been sworn into office? Think what wouldn’t have happened if Bush and his radical right-wing extremists wouldn’t have laid siege - usurping the constitutional authority of the electorate?

Immediately upon being inaugurated, George Bush canceled a long list of international treaties - including the Kyoto Protocol, 1972 ABM Treaty, and the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.

In so doing, he gave a clear signal to the whole world that his Administration was determined to seize power, not only over the United States, but upon the international scene as well. This signal was missed by most Americans who paid little attention to current events other than reality TV and gossip tabloids. How can Bush force others to follow rules when he doesn’t
